We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If there is a question you have that isn't listed, please feel free to contact us.

Q. What is the shelf life of the mixes?

A. As a general rule, mixes are best when used within 6 months of purchase. Mixes that contain just herbs, spices and vegetables (i.e. no dairy powders, sugars, or fruit) can last up to a year. Be sure to store the mixes in a cool, dry place away from light, otherwise the shelf life will shorten dramatically.

Q. How much does each package of mix make?

A. It varies depending on the mix and can be found listed under the mix descriptions here on our website.

Q. Can only half of the mix be made at a time?

A. With some of our mixes, like our dips, desserts, bread dippers; absolutely. This is one reason we use food grade resealable bag for all our mixes. All mixes list the net weigh on the label. Simply cut the weight in half and measure out that amount of ingredients. Then mix according to label instructions using only half of the called for ingredients. Store the remaining mix in the same resealable bag it arrived in.

*Note: We do not suggest  making only half of any of our Artisan Baking Mixes. Results are best achieved with these, when baking the full package.

Q. What are your dry mixes mixed with? What ingredients?

A. We list the needed ingredients under each mixes description.  It is also listed on the product labels.

Q. Can I substitute the required ingredients to make the mixes?

A. While we feel our suggested ingredients provide the best taste, you can absolutely substitute to your liking. For example, to make a lower calorie product, you can use low fat products such as sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise and cool whip. They do not not affect the taste much. Greek yogurt also works well. We don't however recommend using No fat products, as they change the flavor and consistency too much.

Q. How long are the prepared mixes good for?

A. For savory dip mixes and dessert mixes, the expiration date will vary depending on the freshness of the ingredients used. We suggest going by the expiration date on the added components (ie. sour cream, cream cheese, cool whip, etc.). Salsas and Bread Dippers should be consumed within a 5-7 days and guacamole within a few hours.

Q. How do I store the mixes?

A. When you receive your mixes, remove them from the outer packaging we ship them in and store them in a cool, dry place. Since our ingredients are strong, you do not want to keep them stored together in a sealed package or container since the flavors can mingle. We recommend consuming mixes within 6 months of purchase for maximum flavor.

Q. Do you provide nutritional information for your products?

A. No, we do not offer nutritional information at this time.

Since we are a small business, and our products are not mass-produced, we are not currently required by the FDA to list nutritional information.

Most of the savory type mixes have very little nutritional value since they are herbs and spices with the exception of the ones that have sugar, and cheese, and even then, it's very small amounts.

Q. Why do other small business food mix companies offer nutritional information then?

A. Usually it is because they are simply buying a pre-packaged product and reselling it under private labeling. These products are produced by a large manufacturing plant, that produces and sells 1000's and 1000's of mixes, thus nutritional information is required by the FDA.

Q. Are the mixes organic?

A. No they are not. Since dried herbs and spices are grown without pesticides and herbicides they don't receive post-harvest treatments such as fumigation or irradiation.

Herbs and spices are actually not on the list of "must buy organic", since they are such a small part of our diet, it's not really relevant from a health point of view whether they are organically grown or not.

Q. Do any of the mixes contain soy?

A. Yes, any mix that contains bacon, or soybean oil contains soy. Our mixes are also produced in a facility that produces soy products.

Q. I have a food allergy, how do I know if I can consume your mixes?

A. You can find information on our Allergy page here

Q. Do you offer samples of your mixes?

A. We do not offer sample size mixes. All of our mixes are sold in retail-sized packaging and are perfect for sampling at a low price.

Q. Do you offer a printed catalog?

A. Our product line is constantly changing, and new mixes are added frequently. Because of this, we do not offer a printed catalog. All current, available product can be found listed here on our website.
